from the Past
Find out how to move beyond guilt and shame, and start fresh with renewed hope and confidence in Christ.
My calling and passion is to help families and marriages, teaching on how to live in freedom over besetting sin, as well as help people maintain sexual integrity. I preach Christ-centered truth - not "tips and techniques" - for victorious living.
I have a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Bible and Ministry. After 25 years of pastoral ministry in Independent Fundamental Baptist churches, the Lord led me to found Purity Plan Ministries in November of 2012.
By God's grace, we travel across the United States pointing individuals to Spirit-filled living (depending on God's enabling power) for victory. The answers for victory we are looking for are not found in ourselves, but in a moment-by-moment trust in God in temptation.
One of the major ways God has used us is in helping believers struggling with sexual sin, providing hope to them, and pointing out a clear plan for victory over sensuality and sin.
In addition to the comprehensive 15 week online course,
Journey to Victory, the Lord has enabled me to author
Slay the Dragon: Living in Lasting Victory in an Increasingly Impure World.
Dale Akin was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from Bible College in 1994 with a B.S. in church ministries, he and his wife moved to California where he served as an Assistant Pastor for 4 years.
In 1999 he and his family moved back to the Cleveland, Ohio area and began serving as a full-time layman in a church. Dale allowed sinful behavior to turn into an addiction, which crippled and damaged his walk with God. This resulted in a decision to go to Rockford, Illinois to the Men’s School of Discipleship in 2003. After completion of the program, Dale returned to his home and served at his church faithfully for the next 8 years.
In the summer of 2011, Dale and his family moved to Rockford, Illinois to become members of North Love Baptist Church. In April of 2012 he took a position with the RU Recovery Ministries as an Assistant Steward at the Men’s Discipleship Home.
In June 2012 he became the Intervention Mentor and held that position for 4 years. This position involved mentoring and discipling hundreds of men on their road to recovery over struggles, destructive behavior and addiction. He then had the opportunity to travel to churches, teaching and training others in the biblical restoration process of reaching those in addiction to find victory In Christ.
In July of 2023, Dale and his wife became members of the Northwest Bible Baptist Church in Elgin, Illinois where they serve in various ministries and continue to disciple and encourage men and women to grow in grace and live the victorious Christian life.
Terry Anglea was born in Atlanta, Georgia. At age 18, Brother Anglea was born again at the Calvary Baptist Church in Graysville, Tennessee. In June of 1976 he felt the call of God on his life and surrendered to the ministry.
While in Bible college, Brother Anglea met Joyce Christner and they were married in June of 1979. The Lord gave them six children.
Upon graduating from college in 1980, Brother Anglea was hired to assist Dr. Larry Brown at the Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Washington, Iowa. He was ordained to the ministry there and served under Dr. Brown in many different capacities for 10 years.
In June of 1990, Brother Anglea was called as Pastor of the Faith Baptist Church in Bourbonnais, Illinois. God has chosen to bless the ministry of Faith Baptist Church in a wonderful way.
Pastor Anglea serves as an adjunct faculty member of Providence Baptist College in Elgin, Illinois, where he teaches Bible, Church Education, and Homiletics.
Tom Bish graduated from Bible college in 1979. During his years at college, he worked in the Bus Ministry and the Bible Club Ministry. Upon graduation, he served as a Youth & Music Pastor for eleven years, spending most of that time as Assistant Pastor of Heritage Baptist Church in Palmyra, NY. He was married in 1984 to Katrina Warner and the Lord has blessed them with three children; Tim (38), Sarah (35), and Anna (33). He also has eleven grandchildren.
In August 1991 the Lord called the Bish family to Jeannette, PA to start the Heritage Baptist Church. They began with 8 people and had over 225 on their 6th Anniversary at which time they also moved into their 1st permanent building. It was at that time that Pastor Bish was contacted by the Heritage Baptist Church of Wallingford, CT to consider becoming their pastor. After several refusals on his part, Pastor Bish became convinced of the Lord that he was to go to Connecticut and take that church. In May of 1998 he moved to Wallingford where he has pastored for the past 25 years.
In May 2006 Pastor Bish was taken gravely ill with pneumonia and during the recovery it was discovered that he also had cancer that was centered in his left foot. After nearly a year of treatment and multiple surgeries it was decided that the amputation of his left foot was necessary to save his life. In 2010 a mass of tumors developed in the left leg and a second amputation occurred.
On January 12, 2017, Pastor Bish’s wife, Trina, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma, a serious brain tumor. In December of 2017 the Lord chose to take her to heaven after a courageous and faith-filled battle. Six months later, in June 2018 the tumors returned and in August 2018 the decision was made to amputate the rest of his left leg.
Pastor Bish continues to pastor the Heritage Baptist Church and also works as a Certified Peer Mentor with the Amputee Coalition and Hanger Prosthetics, ministering to amputees all over the country. He recently celebrated his 25th Anniversary as pastor at Heritage.
Micah McCurry was born and raised in a military home, moving eight times in his first 18 years. After trusting Christ as a young boy, Micah yielded to the call to preach at summer camp as a teenager under the preaching of Pastor Terry Anglea. He holds a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree from his Bible college training.
In 2013, Micah married Rebekah (Woodward), and they now have two children, Emmy and Lucy. After Bible college, Micah and Rebekah worked on the staff of the First Baptist Church of Kenmore in Akron, OH, under Pastor Joe Grimaldi. Through Pastor Grimaldi's counsel and the Lord's leading, Micah launched into evangelism in January 2020.
He is privileged to be the Executive Director of an eight-decade-old ministry called Bible Tracts, Inc. (BTI). Alongside BTI, he is the host of the Bible Tract Echoes Radio Broadcast that plays Monday through Friday on over 100 radio stations domestically and internationally.
The McCurry family is sent out of the First Baptist Church of Dwight, IL, under the leadership of Pastor Dan Woodward. Through FBC Dwight, Micah also serves as an Assistant Director of the Midwest Christian Boys' Football Camp.
Mike Sullivant, D.D. is the founding pastor of the Pembina Valley Baptist Church. He is both the senior pastor as well as president of Canadian Baptist Bible College. He, along with his wife Brenda, have faithfully been serving the Lord at Pembina Valley Baptist Church since its inception on December 11, 1988.
Pastor Sullivant was saved at the age of 15 during a revival service in Kansas City, Missouri. He heard a message on Hell and knew that he was in need of salvation. At the age of sixteen, his youth group from Kansas took a trip to a camp at Lake of the Woods, Ontario and it was during that week he surrendered to God's will for his life. He knew that God had called him to preach and that one day he would be serving the Lord in the great land of Canada.
After completing Bible College, he and his wife Brenda, along with five of their eight children (three later born in Canada), came to Manitoba in September of 1988. On December 11 of that same year, the first service for the Pembina Valley Baptist Church was held.
Pastor Sullivant has a real burden to plant churches throughout Canada and send church planters around the world. The need to train young men became a great concern to him in 1995, when he and the members of Pembina Valley Baptist Church determined to start Canadian Baptist Bible College. God has greatly blessed.
Chris Starr grew up in Northwest Ohio and graduated from Bible College with a Bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Studies and a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies in 1998.
He has served at Mt. Zion Baptist Church since June, 1999. Pastor Starr accepted the senior pastorate in September of 2013 after serving as his father’s assistant pastor for 14 years.
His wife, Jenny, serves alongside her husband in the ministry, along with raising their 3 children.
